Before I dive in, why this name? InTwoEat is a union of what I hold most dear; it is what I value both in food, and in building relationships with clients.

I believe food and eating starts as an intuitive process.

The magic in this process is the relationship; between you and me, and your relationship with food.

The goal is to eat delicious things that are satisfying.

I’ve had years of experience counseling individuals, specifically with weight loss and improving health outcomes. Over time, I’ve felt an overwhelming sense of misalignment of values. So much emphasis was placed on the number on the scale, instead of how food + movement made people feel, what foods were satisfying, or what was sustainable. I don’t believe in restrictions and rules, which is why the concept of Intuitive Eating resonated so profoundly with me. For those unfamiliar with this approach, Intuitive Eating is a weight-inclusive, evidence-based model that helps cultivate attunement to one’s physical and psychological needs (hunger, fullness, movement, rest), and removes obstacles to this awareness (rules, beliefs, thoughts).

 

When I started talking about intuitive eating concepts with clients, I saw lightbulbs flicker on.

I saw people ditch the black and white view of their food intake, and begin to search for the gray area. I witnessed the power of permission - permission to eat what is satisfying; permission to eat what is delicious and special, without restrictions; and permission to find JOY in their relationship with food. Perhaps feeding yourself has been stressful, loaded with fear/worry, or done with limited time or resources. Perhaps you are just done with the on again off again dieting mentality, pursuing some elusive weight goal. Whatever the reason may be, you’ve taken the first step in recognizing your relationship with food could use some love and attention. Amazing! You’ve come to the right place.

My aim is to connect food with positive experiences that nourish our bodies and delight our senses. I know this is radical in today’s fear-based diet culture, but I know firsthand that it’s possible.
